PDS by POC @ SOW – WOW!

Posted in Uncategorized on September 28, 2010 by vaphoto

Great event!  Great cars, new and old friends, fantastic instructors working so hard all weekend…awesome event POC.  The weather,  well, not so much.  Hot stuff!  How many Ferraris joined the P-cars on the Streets? Did all the Caymans in So Cal come to Willow for the weekend?  If you weren’t there, you missed a good one.

Now, a word for our new drivers: let’s talk about car numbers.

Even though you don’t have your permanent POC number yet, you want to be seen on track, spotted by the camera and recognized. When Velocity captions are put together, you’ll want us to know who you are out there.

Car numbers should be 8″ high to be easily identified. Side numbers on both doors, and a hood number will help when the day’s photos are organized. You’re more likely to make it into the magazine if we don’t have to struggle to figure out who’s photo we have.

Also, demonstrate your graphic artist talent somewhere else on race day. That means, don’t use your car numbers to show your individuality. Sevens displayed backwards, awkward fonts, alphanumeric designations, too much tape decoration around the numbers…nope.  While these things may look cool in the pits, when you fly past my lens at 120 mph, its just a blue blur! Keep it simple and make the editors’ and photographer’s life easier!

See everyone in Las Vegas or Auto Club Speedway in October.

The End of Summer

Posted in Uncategorized on September 23, 2010 by vaphoto

Fall is here. You can feel it in the air.

The Summer of 2010 was full of activities:

  • Porsche Parade in St. Charles, IL
  • Porsche Owners Club presented Tribute to LeMans in a great weekend event at Auto Club Speedway
  • Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was the site of Porsche Owners Club’s annual charity Fundraiser event
  • Auto Club Speedway’s 2 day event for Porsche Owners Club Cup Races and Time Trials

Were you there?  Did you miss anything?  Virtual Access Photo was so busy!  It has been great to see old friends, watch great battles on the track: hey Martin, you going to let Steve lead the rest of the year?  Is Mobine going to keep breaking records?

The shops are well represented: Aase shows great work, Speed Gallery is doing great, GSR keeping Regan going strong (did you see that start at Auto Club from “DFL”? Steve and Desert Performance Motorsports are showing 2 great cars; how about Hergesheimer – Eric was dominant in BSR at Laguna Seca.  Check out the growing fleet of Cayman Specs running CSR…now up to 3! Come on, you know you want to join in!

If you missed the Tribute to LeMans, check out the photo galleries to see all the great action. Robert Dalrymple and his Three Amigos made a great run and stayed out in front with excellent driving and masterful pit stops. And, in the handicap division, John Cherniack, Bill Fox, Vali Predescu, and John Gordon teamed up as “996SPECtacular” for the win!
